Here is everything you need to know for Christmas at Tameside Pilates 2019!

Tues Dec 3rd – no classes at Hurst, we are going for a curry, everyone is welcome, whatever class you attend!

Armed Forces Day free class

For Armed Forces Day 2019 I am offering a free Pilates class to Veteran members of the Forces. The offer is open to both current class members and those new to Tameside Pilates. No experience is needed but please do ask if you have any special needs. Fill in the form to claim your place.

Free Pilates Taster session at Dukinfield Festival July 7th 2018

Join me at Dukinfield Park on July 7th 2018 for a Pilates taster session: Pilates for Posture and Back Pain.

We will be doing 30 mins of Standing Pilates focussing on posture, and tips on how to deal with back pain. Please note that if you are being treated for back pain you should check with your medic/physio etc that it is ok for you to join in the class. The class will be very suitable for beginners, nothing very strenuous.

The sessions will take place in the Community room (next to the Bowling Green) at 11:45 am and 12:30pm

Would you like to see the IT iliotibial Band?

I was lucky enough to go and see the Body Worlds exhibit in New York recently. I had seen this before at the Science and Industry museum in Manchester, but it was many years ago and my understanding of anatomy has progressed since then. The number one thing I wanted to see was the iliotibial band and to understand more about it’s role in stabilising the knee.

This is Yoga Lady, we may never find out her real name or know anything about her, but doesn’t she look amazing? And there down the side of her thigh is the IT (iliotibial) Band. It’s a critical postural muscle and can be the cause of much pain or discomfort to runners. If you have IT Band Syndrome then do come along to class for some postural tips and IT band stretches.

There are Body Worlds exhibitions all over the world, you can see the current ones here. Don’t be afraid to go to one, it’s not gory, it’s fascinating.

I heart Pilates!

I really do love Pilates and I hope all my clients do too. For my little Christmas gift this year I had some charms made to show our love!

And, here also is this years Christmas card, me jumping at the temples at Angkor Wat. I’ll be spending Christmas in Cambodia so it seemed appropriate!

Class member Debbie asked me if it was really me in the Santa dress or had I photoshopped my face onto a Mrs Santa? Well, yes it is me! The original photo was shot at Hartshead Pike a couple of years ago, it was a fun photoshoot and you can read the amusing story behind it HERE.
